Andrew is a Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and Creativity at the University of Nottingham Institute for Enterprise and Innovation. His background is in technology consulting and later the cultural industries as a nascent entrepreneur. His current research interests include the application of ethnography to the questions of how identity, reflexivity and pragmatist theories can assist in understanding entrepreneurial creativity especially in the cultural industries. He is particularly interested in the future of entrepreneurial education and the wider question of how entrepreneurial action contributes to the production of value in design intensive production. His doctoral thesis, which was sponsored by the ESRC, was entitled ‘The Architecture of Cultural Enterprise: A Study of Design Reflexivity in Action’. This applied an ethnographic approach to study how research participants identified with the role of cultural entrepreneur. This enabled a finer understanding of typical processes involved in creating and maintaining design intensive businesses. His research has been published in International Studies in Management and Organization and by the American Anthropological Association. He has presented papers at the European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management and Ethnographic Praxis in Industry Conference.
